Hi, has anyone tried changing the lower outer tube on their reverb? I have a 30.9 x 380mm and want to change it to a 31.6, do I just need a replacement outer tube or will I need a service kit with it and does anyone know a good dealer to get it from? Thanks

Can't you just buy a shim?

I could but I would rather change the lower tube.

It's certainly more than just a lower tube. Some of the internals in the lower will be different as well. The bushings will be different.
It'll be cheaper to sell your current one and buy a new one.

No its not. Its just a new lower tube, everything internally is identical.

You'd be better off selling yours and putting the money towards a new one

If you know all about the internals why don't you just do it?

  • Bought a £5.00 shim in the end, works fine just a bit stiff trying to set the initial seat height. If I get bored in the winter or need to strip down the post I will change it then. Thanks

I changed mine, 20 quid second hand tube from tf tuned 15 mins in the vice, make sure you have soft jaws for your vice and make sure the new tube is the same length as the old
