Mavic freehub spacer

Lets pretend for a minute that someone had dismantled a Mavic Ksyrium Elite freehub without paying particular attention to what bits went where, and later found a spacer that didn't appear in the diagram. The spacer is roughly 11mm outside diameter.

Anyone know what this is and where it goes please?

Why not start on the rest of the bike and see if you get left with enough bits to build another bike for free?
