Hi guys
Just a question out of curiosity really, just got a new bike specialized allez sport 2016.
Just want to gain a bit of knowledge around possible upgrades in the future.
Say if I wanted to upgrade the groupset, how do I know what cassette I can upgrade to, seen a lot of posts around your wheel may only fit a 9 sp, how would I know?
Anything else I need to know about upgrades?

10 spd fits with a 1 mm spacer
11 speed doesn't but if you a shelling out for 11spd you can doubtless afford a new freehub body.
Mind you the Allez wheels are well cr*p anyway.0 -
Are they? I'm not really clued up on wheels to be honest, I can't seem to find much info about them.
Any idea if I could replace the sora with 105 or ultegra without new wheels?0 -
Your wheels will take a maximum of a 10 speed cassette, 11 speed cassettes are very slightly wider and so will not go on. To be honest though sora stuff works very well, I have it on my winter bike and it is fine. You could upgrade to the new Tiagra 10speed if you really wanted but you wouldn't see any real world gains.... It is quite a pretty groupset though I have to admit... Just ride the hell out of you're new bike for now, enjoy it, and If you decide to upgrade some components or even the whole bike at some point in the future then so be it.... Some people have very expensive bikes, they are nice don't get me wrong, but a bike like yours is all most of us really need....we're not pro's going for race wins after all.
A famous person once said, "its not about the bike", he was a pr1ck though so we don't talk about it...0 -
