Fulcrum 5 LG with Pro Carbon

Hi, I currently have a Planet x Pro Carbon which I use with Shimano 6700 wheels and Continental 4000sII 25mm tyres. The clearance is ok, but a bit tight. I want to use with Fulcrum 5 LG as new wheels, but hear this may push wheel/tyre height up a bit. I've tried a search, but not found if anyone has tried this particular combination and found ok or had problems.

Any advice/comments appreciated. Cheers, John.

A wider wheel does not generally push the wheel/tyre height up but has the opposite effect in that it flattens the tyre profile and makes it wider. Not sure about running that wheel/tyre combo with that bike so it would be worth getting a first hand experience.

Not a direct comparison but a relevant one IMHO. I built up a Pro Carbon frameset a month or so back and bought some Archetype/Miche Primato wheels from Cycleclinic to finish the build. The Archetype is a wide profile rim but not sure how it compares in size to the Fulcrum LG. ( Edit:- Just checked the rim width in both cases is 23mm)

Anyway my plan was to try running Michelin Pro4 Endurance 28c tyres as I'd used these on my previous bike (Planet X London Road) and really appreciated the smooth and comfy ride they provided. Long story short - I have now ridden a couple of hundred miles with the 28c's in place with no problems. FYI info I have included below a couple of pics of the clearance on the front and rear wheels

The rear clearances are a little tight but I've had no problems so far. For your purposes, your 25c tyres should be OK - although different tyres brands can show different profiles on the same rims

Thank you both very much. Arlowood, if that's the clearance with 28s, then I feel comfortable that I'm not going to go wrong with 25s, so thanks again. Cheers, John,
