Best 2nd hand TT bike on a budget?

Hey everyone,

I'm looking at buying a TT bike, after doing a 24-minute 10-mile TT on my road bike a few weeks ago, and friends suggesting I take it up.

Unfortunately, I don't have much of a budget, so wondered what people think the best bike/frame one can get for upto £1000 (but preferably closer to £500) is.

Any advice would be much-appreciated!

Ridley Cheetah frame/forks/carbon aero seat post for £265 from CRC are really nice, brilliant value (down from £1,000) and then you build up with sale bits - mine needs some brake cables and save for the deep rims I had in the garage cost me less than £500.

I may get around to taking a pic.

No you won't! We're still waiting for the Merckx to get finished!!

Back O/T, I don't know what the 'best' is, but have a look through here: http://www.timetriallingforum.co.uk/ind ... wforum=116

    Touché! :)

Well apart from adjusting the rear mech it's now finished - will post a piccie this weekend if I get a chance.

May even do the two pictures at once - now that would be a shock!

Bikes in jersey in Channel Islands being sold by a mate but he may post.

He bought from another mate who works in a bike shop and bought it new, it's been used around 10 times.

I picked up a Felt B2 frame with fork, seatpost and outer cables for £200 off eBay. Spent another £150 buying front and rear mech, brake levers and calipers, bar end shifters, chain and bottom bracket cups and the rest I took from my parts bin / moved from other bikes. A very nice TT bike for £350 outlay. If you keep an eye on eBay and are patient then a good deal will come up sooner or later. I would have considered a full bike but I ride Campag and Campag equipped TT bikes are pretty rare...

For some reason I have always liked these bikes and there is a fair discount on this model if the size suits (although perhaps it might not be as aero as some of the more extreme TT bikes around): http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/cube ... prod128150

Cervelo P2 is the right answer.

Might be worth just getting some decent clip on bars, a funny hat and a power meter to see how your first season goes before lumping in? If you get a bit bored riding TTs then you could always flog on the bars/helmet and keep the PM.

Look on ebay.. All sorts on there. I've been half tempted by some Cannondale Slice models @ around £600-£800. I don't really need one though.... Let me re phrase that in case I see another cheap tidy one : I really don't need one ! There, that should do it. :)
