Mavic Cosmic 40cc wheels

Does anyone suffer with brake rub with these wheels?
I was told they were very stiff but I'm getting an annoying scuffing noise when in motion.

    Release the brake quick release a bit and see if you get the noise.

    Yeah check things by releasing the quick release. If your still getting it then its likely the dreaded Mavic freehub death squeal where the the nylon bush is worn. Most often occurs free wheeling fast down a hill. Google Mavic death squeal for more info.

    They're only 2 months old surely the free hub can't have gone!

    Freehub issues would be pretty clear to most riders as you just need to stop pedalling and see if the noise is bad, then pedal again and the noise will go away, simples.

    As above, check to see if your pads are set correctly, wider wheels can need a fair bit of adjustment in the brake bridge and some types may struggle. Don't forget to carefully check the pad alignment too. Might also be worth carefully checking the frame/fork to ensure there is enough clearance.

    I am also assuming that you are not riding with mudguards, as that may well be the cause ;-)

    Why not ? It's Mavic hubs we are talking about. Pure garbage.
