SRAM Via GT rear derailleur- Good/Crap?

Can anyone put the SRAM Via GT mech in context for me?
I get the Red -> Force -> Rival -> Apex and X0 -> x9 -> x7 -> x5... sequences for road and mtb but what level would you say the Via GT is?
I can't find very much info about it - no reviews or indication of where it sits. SRAM say that it is 1:1 so should be compatible with the normal road shifters, they also say it uses tech from Red and X0 - is that just marketing puff or is it actually quite decent?
(I should probably have asked before buying one - it is on its way from ebay as I type)
thanks
