I have a hybrid bike that has tektro HDC 300s on it, i wanted to remove them to put some new bars on and replace the levers with others, basically remove all the stock braking systems and replace with mechanical disk brakes. This was successful on the front brake, but because of the interior cable routing, i cant remove the cable for the rear brake. On one end of the cable is the lever and on the other, a small fitting (that attaches to the rear brake) that wont back out through the hole in the down tube. this means i cant remove the rear brake cable or lever from the bike. I have tried to remove the collet on the end of the tube but to no success and i couldn't figure out how to remove the lever. it seems almost as if the bike was built around the cable and it cant be removed, which seems very strange. So has anyone had any experience with these brakes, perhaps a way to remove the levers that i haven't seen?
thanks for the help
