Hello,

So I am looking to buy my first road bike.

I have found a second hand Merida Ride 94 with full 105 groupset done 1500 miles as advertised.

Is this a good bike? Is it a good bike for a beginner?

The asking price is £450 which includes two bottle cages and pedals.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, especially on what to look for on a second hand bike.

Thanks

Merida are very underestimated, probably because they're a big manufacturer and fairly new to the road market. But you've got German design with expert Taiwanese construction of the carbon frame models. The Ride 94 is a decent bike, but not ideal for shorties. Good for sportives or even leisure riding. Depending on the age it could have either external or internal cable routing which came in around 2014. Wheelies are offering the Ride 94 (2014 model) for £599 new. I'm sure they'd chuck in some bottle cages.
I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.
