Afternoon all - I have won a competition - I have £1000 to spend at Evans Cycles.

I already have a bike and do not need a new one.

Can someone who is very kind go onto the website and pick a bike and/or accessories for me that i can sell for maximum profit.

If i buy a £1000 bike id like to get maybe £700 back in cash if i sell it.

Please let me know if you think this is possible and what i should buy. The link to the website is below.

Thanks,

Why not get some nice upgrades for your bike?

Indeed, upgrades, accessories, some consumables ready in advance (chains, tyres, lube, cables etc) is where I would put it first.

That or find a friend wanting to buy a new bike and sell him the value of the voucher for say £850.

What he really meant to say was that he has £1000 to spend on the bike to work scheme.

Well he says he has £1000 to buy a bike, not the ability to rent a bike for the next year worth £1000.

That was my initial thought as well but I went with the "benefit of the doubt" approach.

If he sold it for £700 he'd be making a loss even with the C2W effective discount though, would never be worth it, which is why although the £1k matches C2W I discounted it straight away.

There are regular competitions with £1000 of Evans vouchers - one that just finished: https://takingchargetogether.org.uk/ter ... onditions/

So no reason to doubt the motives as such.

Just sell the voucher to someone / drip feed around your mates for a while.

    Your name is appropriate.

What cyclist ever said 'I already have a bike and do not need a new one'? Buy something different, maybe even a road bike so you can get properly fit.

Maybe it's someone who just rides to work occasionally and goes for family rides at weekends and has no use for another bike.
For best resale value I'd go for a big brand like Specialized, Canondale or Trek etc. They're fairly rubbish bikes but easy to sell on ebay.

Obviously not a real biker, i have 6 mtb's and i still want more, you can never have too many!!!

Why did you enter the competition if you didn't want a bike????

    Because £1K is £1k!

Spend it on new gear, a dropper post, replacements, etc...

But yeah, probably not a real biker
