Hi

I purchased the Fizik Arione R3 Saddle With Braided Carbon Rails a few weeks ago from Wiggle, IU read the reviews and noted the advice of a reviewer that it needed the Thompson oversize rail clamp

Does anyone know if this is mandatory of optional ?

    the rails are oval, c. 7x9mm - long axis vertical - some clamps may not open far enough, standard side-loading clamps can't be used

    fwiw i had a saddle with these rails, with no issue fitting it on different posts including a thompson one, but maybe it varies from model to model
    my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny
