Just to let you know there are still places available fo the White Rose Classic 2016.

Sunday 26th June 2016

Event Overview

The WRC is considered to be one of, if not the, premier road cycling sportive in the region. Re-established in 2012 by the then newly formed Ilkley Cycling Club, this sell-out 1000 rider event aims to provide a challenging day out through some of the most spectacular Yorkshire Dales scenery….taking in some of its classic (read toughest) climbs! With three routes to choose from, the event provides for differing levels of ability and experience. It thus attracts
a range of participants from whippet-like club riders looking for a gold standard time to those looking for a more leisurely but challenging day out in the saddle.

The White Rose Classic is organised and run by volunteers from Ilkley Cycling Club in conjunction with British Cycling and profits from the event go towards promoting grass roots cycling initiatives locally including supporting our youth development programme & encouraging more men and women to ride bikes as per our club motto “From Recreation to Racing”

For the 2016 Edition of the WRC we are delighted to announce we are working in partnership with Leeds Children’s Heart Surgery Fund in memory of renowned Heart Consultant and Ilkley Cyclist , George Ballard.

A proportion of the profits will also go to the charity & they will be entering a team on the day so give them a big cheer when you see them on the road . They would welcome anyone else entering wanting to be sponsored for CHSF.
HQ

The event starts and ends at Ilkley Rugby Club (LS29 0BZ) where there will be free event parking, toilets and changing facilities and refreshments, including hot and cold food. The Rugby Club is on the edge of the town centre so it’s an ideal opportunity to make a day of it and bring along family and friends who can enjoy all Ilkley has to offer whilst you ride and cheer you in on your return. There’s Ilkley Lido on one side of the HQ and the town’s parks and riverside on the other, as well as the famous Cow and Calf Rocks and Ilkley Moor within walking distance. The town centre itself is crammed full of local shops, cafes and restaurants. Start times for each route will be within the following:- Long (6.30am- women only start – All 6.40am – 9.30am), Medium (7.30am –women only start- All 7.40am- 9.30am), Short (8.30am –Women Only start – All – 8.40am- 10.00am). Just signed up so thought I'd give this event a friendly bump...

Will be my fourth year riding it and it is superb. Great organisation, tough course, excellent food stops, friendly participants, in god's own country... what's not to like.
