Atera Strada DL with a fourth bike attachment, it's a tow ball mounted model and it's brilliant. I all so use Atera Giro AF's, roof bar ones for when the tow bars got the caravan on it ! Sad I know, but I have to do what the wife tells me.

I use Thule aero bars with 591 Proride carriers.
Having a car with a rear diffuser means no tow bar. Fancy paint means no boot mounted racks. Roof bars were my only choice really.
Need to get a van. Bedford Rascal would do the job.

+1 because I do this on my 1 series bmw, glad bizango has a quick release altho most bikes have that too. I have a rack from halfords but I don't use it because im afraid bike might fall off or rack get loose.

Although possible with almost any car (including smart cars) not ideal if you have a nice interior.

    Why not?
I've put muddy, wet MTBs in the back of my Insignia estate and you'd never know. You just need a couple of Tarps.
My old Vectra Estate had 5 years of MTBs chucked in the back and there wasn't a mark on the interior when I traded it in.You just need to take a bit of care.
I also have a Witter 3-Bike towball mounted carrier if I need to use the rear seats and boot space. The rack can be lowered to the floor with the bikes on to allow boot access.

I use the cheapo Halfords rear high mounted number. It does the job pretty good. I have managed to get 3 full sus bikes on it but that's because I'm lucky that my mates' bikes are very small.

Truthfully I'm going to bite the bullet and buy roof bars and roof carriers soon though.

While I'd like to laugh at your Korean car it's probably much better than my Jaguar for carrying bikes and not built by brummies so probably built properly.

I know enough to design active suspension for several of the major manufacturers
I also know if you want a fast diesel saloon then the Jaguar XF is better than the BMW 535d with more power and torque and less turbo lag and a much better chassis. The latest Jaguars are just destroying the competition.
I'm happy with a Jag with over 310bhp, more torque than most super cars, 0-60 in well under 6 seconds while still doing 40mpg. Not too slow for a mid size diesel saloon.

I always like the way that people with only 'perceived knowledge' of cars speak as if they really know cars, thus displaying their ignorance to those who really know them.

I will admit to having a connection with Jaguar ( worked there a while back and my current employer is linked to them) in this case, but not (also unfairly maligned) Hyundai.

Hyundai may not make exciting cars but what they do build is extremely reliable, good quality cars at a good price.

I don't know much about cars, but RULE #25 is clearly out the window here!!! :-)

So is the thread still about bike rack or cars now? haha, sorry to hijack your thread OP but I'm also after a new rack too I could put it in the back of my car but then that limits the seats specially if friends want to tag along.

Not quite confident on my high-mount rack its a little old and clips seems to be okay but a little rusty.

    I googled rule 25

Rule 25: When a person is seeking chemical dependency treatment and needs public funding to pay for the treatment, they get a chemical use assessment

It may or may not be appropriate. I'm undecided.

I was making a joke about the make, but inside is still the best place for a bike. I have an old duvet in mine to stop scrapes and rattles, and a giant tarp in case it's really muddy.

I have a plastic load liner in mine and a plastic sheet tucked under the front that rolls out up the back of the back seat.

Rule #25 The bikes on top of your car should be worth more than the car.
Or at least be relatively more expensive. Basically, if you’re putting your Huffy on your Rolls, you’re in trouble, mister. Remember what Sean Said.

So I now have an excuse to buy a carbon Santa Cruz V10 and a Nomad and build them with all the best kit. Won't make me any faster though.

    I agree, I wouldn't buy anything else.
I've carried three bikes on my Thule roof bars and carriers, cruising at 110mph for a few hundred miles to catch a ferry and the bikes were solid on the roof.

I have old basic Thule stuff and it's easy to use and solid. Just won't die.

I urge you to check with your insurance company as they can get funny about these things.esp if you get a towbar mounted one.

A roof rack is not a modification, and neither is a towbar rack.

    A towbar however probably is.
