Garmin and multiple stages in one day

Hi. I am going to be doing a full days cycle, involving transport between stages on Ferries and possibly. One train journey. Five Ferries challenge for anyone who knows it.
Anyone done anything similar and used a Garmin?
So I'm wondering if I need to do it in separate stages to keep the distance / time / speed correct on strava? If so, is there anyway of joining all stages together?
Or can I stop the ride at the ferry, then start again when getting off the ferry at the next stop, and still only have the distance and time from when we have actually been cycling.

Have a look at the File Combiner on this link https://www.fitfiletools.com/#/top I've only used it once but it seemed to work well.“You may think that; I couldn’t possibly comment!”

I believe its simply a case of pausing the garmin when you stop cycling and starting it when you set off again...always worked fine for me.0

That usually ends up with a big straight line from each pausing point.
OP - a few friends did it last year and looking at the Strava rides for that day they decided to just record each stage separately.
The Portvadie to Colintravie stage looks like fun :-)0 -
As above, pausing etc. just causes lines over the ferry points (and then Strava adds that distance onto the distance ridden).
Simplest just to record each bit of the ride separately and then you end up with the correct mileage at the end of the day.0 -

Not true actually in my experience. Such as this ride, was about 500 yards short of 130km for the Gran Fondo badge. Paused, got train 50 miles home and rode home to get over the distance. Ride shows as 82 miles long, no 130!

+1 From my experience Strava joins the dots but does not alter the distance.
Often the case if you forget to re start garmin after a cafe stop etc..0
