Orange clockwork with surly ogre forks...good idea?

Fancy doing a bit of touring this summer. Mostly road cycling with some farm tracks etc. I currently have a 2015 orange clockwork 100 29er ( https://www.orangebikes.co.uk/archive/2 ... kwork-100/ )
and wondered if it would be a good idea just to shove on some slicks, a pannier rack and a rigid fork like the surly ogre ( http://surlybikes.com/parts/forks/ogre_fork )...is this a ridiculous idea? Any help much appreciated!
