So initially have a budget of around £400 and found voodoo bantu and rockrider 540 within the price range, then I went to one of the local shop and saw KTM Ultra flite for around £700 big price difference but wonder if anyone have heard of it and any thoughts about this? is £300 more worth or I can get something better around £700? I would stretch the budget something better comes up, I say that because the shop is offering 0% APR.

Also tried KTM Ultra 1964 and woo that bike is so light its about 11kg but its about £900 :(

Ride: I mostly ride in the forests with my dogs but I wanna start doing some trail riding in some MTB trail parks.

Ultra Flite:

Nothing really wrong with the Flite - a bit old school xc in the geometry (which is fine, if that is what you want), but the value is pretty low £700. Basic heavy fork does the job, but you'd expect more.

£100 quid less gets you the Rockrider 580:

Similar bike, but with the air version of the fork, and lighter overall weight. or for the same cash:

Should be 3 lbs less in weight or so, better brakes, lighter fork with more adjust ability, some nice upgrades to the drivetrain over the Flite and a decent wheelset too.

Thanks, also saw voodoo bizango but its 29er and only available in bright green (a little too bright for me) not that colour matters but yeah. Guess I will have to pop in Decathlon (Southampton) to see their bikes. Though still want something a little less pricey its either the bantu or 540, Bantu is a little heavier than the 540 but I think specs are about the same.

If wanting to spend around £400 then have a look at the 13 Incline Alpha - at £410 is steal.

Thanks, will take a look at it.

Btw why did you say flite geometry is a bit old school? Sorry don't know much about it but it looks similar to others?

You can't see a degree or two of head angle in photos but it makes a big difference to how the bike rides, likewise a few MM on the BB height.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

As above, steep (er) head angles. Also short top tubes for a listed size, as usually designed to have a longer stem.

But as before, not a bad thing as such, depending on your preference. Can quite suit some people - I have long legs for my height and a short reach.

Went to decathlon today and tried their 540 and it seems to be alright, pretty light in my opinion but not sure about the fork and break doesn't seems that strong unless it needs to be adjusted. I asked one of the guys in the shop that 540 and up is what he recommend as a trail ride.

They also have the 580 but its £600 surely I can get something better than that around that price, planning to grab one next weekend.

Does anyone know which Rockhopper is this? its a 2nd hand one and the guy only said its 2012 RH can't find the specs. The guy is selling it for £130 but I will check the bike first ofc but I wanna know from the guys here if anyone know that RH.

If he can't tell you the specs on a bike he owns he probably stole it.

Haha probably or just not bothered to look, it looks like a RH Comp 2012 though.

    He linked me this https://www.evanscycles.com/specialized ... e-EV149190

He's asking for £130 Or better off with 540 Rockrider?

decent enough bike, about the level of the RR 540, so as long as it's in decent condition (and not stolen) I'd go for it.

Yeah true, I think someone bought it already I will just save the money and avoid the risk. Planning to stretch the price point to around £500 and planning to get one from Tredz as they do 0% finance which is nice spread the cost.

Wanna stick with 27.5 wheel size, was looking at Saracen Mantra Pro as I think BikeRadar did a review of hardtails under £750 and Mantra Pro was one of the bikes and got good reviews.
