On both my 500's the rubber cover has popped out. I can't seem to push it back in. Those rubber legs have wide bit thar simply won't go through the holes. there must be a way so what is the trick.

Put the unit upside down on a table, put your thumb and push at the long end which is attached...and then use your fingers on the other hand to guide in the remainder.

    Hope that makes sense!

Mine did the same and, like you, I just couldn't get it back in. Eventually I gave up, cut the 'prong' off and stuck one end down with a small drop of superglue. It's still OK after 12 months or so.

I figured it out. I squirted some plus gas at the hole and then push the cover in with a screwdriver.

    fitted properly now.

Have used an Edge 200 for 2 years in all weather without the rubber and never had a problem.

The ports are waterproof, so should not be a problem - UNLESS you plug them in and put a current through them while still wet. Without the bung you should make sure to dry them out before plugging in.

Lost mine ages ago but have a strip of electrical tape over it just incase. One of the side buttons has split from use so got a bit of tape for that as well! Lol. Still going though. Rather not buy a new one unless I have to.

This is a known design fault and if you email Garmin UK they will send you a replacement cover. Takes quite a while to come and then the fun of fitting it starts - as already suggested, or dab of washing up liquid and cocktail stick!

The cover on my 800 never seated properly so I bought one of the cheap silicone covers and put it on the wrong way round - so the cut-out in the silicon cover is at the top, where there are no ports, and the non-cut out end covers the ports and holds the wonky Garmin covers in place.
If that description makes any sense :-)
