Campagnolo ergolever gets stuck
Hi guys, recently bought and installed a pair of used 10 speed centaur ergos. The new style ones with the new hoods and staff. The ergolevers work great until the big cog in the back gets engaged. Then it gets stuck and the only way to get it unstuck it is to grab the wire and yank it really hard.. Quite annoying when you dont ride on your own and have to get off your bike. Any ideas and solutions? The cables and casings are all new. The mech seems to be working great and the barell of the wire is just the standard size. Nothing sticking out.
Thanks

check that the rubber hood is not catching the thumb lever... that is typically what happens... mine used to do that, before I sorted itleft the forum March 20230

i ve checked them but its not that. it seems that when i shift to the easiest gear, if i force it a bit somehow the mechanism gets stuck.0

Are they the earlier Ultrashift Centaur levers or the more recent Powershift ones? You can tell by the logos and if the thumb button is a lever that can drop more than one sprocket at a time - or a button that can only drop a cog one at a time.
If ultrashift, I've had this if the thumb lever is not properly engaged. When it happens again, rather than pull the cable, just try to push the thumb button 'up' to get it to catch.
If that works, then the cause could be the hood not fitted properly and blocking the return of the lever. It could be you're using a shimano cable rather than a campag one and it's sticking in the lever.0 -
They are the powershift ones. Jast tried it after I removed the hoods and the problem persists. Going to change the cable later tonight to eliminate that possibility as well before I start opening it up. Thank you very much for your replies!0

Obviously this isn't relevant to the OP but - is it possible that you have been resting your thumb on the thumb shifter prior to an upshift? I used to have this problem and found that it only happened when I had been had been lazy with my thumb. I assume that the small amount of pressure on the thumb shifts the cogs such that the paddle jams.Faster than a tent.......0 -

No i havent, as a matter of fact the particular bike is been on a stand since and until it gets fixed. I just havent had the time yet to try a different cable because of work and training. Once I do I will let you guys know what happend because if it doesnt get fixed I will definitely need your help on how to proceed.0
