Nice! Giddy it ready asap“I am a humanist, which means, in part, that I have tried to behave decently without expectations of rewards or punishments after I am dead.”

Its a brill bike, big smiles on my face on my first mini ride out. Need to sort shock out though as its using up too much travel although I do hanker after a coil.

new front tyre, Der baron projekt 2.4 (old 2.3 baron BC on the right)

The standard monarch comes with two bands installed and transition recomend running 35% sag. I've tried this and it bottoms out too easily. added some electrical tape to make it more progressive and while that helps the ramp up the shock feels nasty particularly on big landings where the compression of the shock isn't pleasant. Took all the bands and tape out and adjusted pressure according to the travel I was getting on a big drop off. the effect is a much improved shock both small repetitive hits like roots in a forrest and on big hits where the landing is much improved.
Also bought myself a slaughter control tyre (should have got grid for more protection though) but not fitted it yet0 -

graveduro, get with the times
We pass through the cemetary on the way to the local trails. There are some stairs there that are good practice for lewis so thats where the picture was taken.0 -

I rarely agree with you but on this I absolutely agree.
Air shocks are better now than they've ever been but for pure performance you can't beat a coil.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Fitted a down tube protector - its from a trek remedy 29 but fits really well with a cut out for the cables.
got it from triton cycles

Nice bike.
amazing two different generation at a same style and same bike. I also enjoy riding with my younger brother.
That's really great for the people who want o be some effective nature.0 -
new toy - fucked up the weight calculation as my scales are over reading so not as fat as I thought I was.

Really impressive!0

recently fitted a spank spike stem (35mm length) its made a big difference to the handling of the bike over the 55mm haven that was on before. More comfy to ride and much better for decending. Also have had time to fiddle with my DB coil IL too. Set up well for most trails but would change spring rate for going to inners or FB.

went round the red route at glentress today - the shock is awesome but the pikes are being shown up by the shock. thinking about getting one of those Luftkappe pistons

Looking good, nice bike that.
I'm still thinking about getting one of them coil shocks for my mega tr but I'm not sure I want to spend that much.
How wide are those Spank bars?0 -
800mm, thinking about cutting them down but need to experiement first0
-
The performance of the DB coil IL has overshadowed the pike by some margin so invested in a vorsprung luftkappe.
not had a chance to test it properly in anger but a few bunny hops and car park test show its softer off the first part of travel0 -
The luftkape is a definite improvement over the standard air spring.
Recently fitted the bike yoke DeHy to replace the hydraulic button on the reverb. Much better action with the cable although its not as light as the trigger on my son's KS Lev. I got it with the I-Spec B adaptor

Bike looks great! I'm looking at a Transition as a possible purchase now, only thing i'm confused at is why don't Transition automatically add a downtube protector.....the type of being it is means it's going to take the occasional rock beating if one flicks up0

pikes developed play in the left bushings so splashed out on a Manitou mattock pro 2.
