Front to Back Play in DT Swiss Disc Wheel

I'm comfortable with the basics but I'm stuck with this one.

I've a set of DT Swiss r24 Spline disc wheels and have a problem with the rear. When I apply the rear brake there is play front to back. In other words, the caliper keeps the disc still and the cassette remains still on the other side, yet the wheel can roll/rock back and forth by half an inch to an inch.

There's no play in the cassette and the skewer is tight enough. The wheel is true and I've not hit anything hard.

Any idea what the problem could be?

Ta.

Nonsense, if the disc does not move, the wheel cannot move

Sounds stupid but are you rocking the whole bike back and forth?

If the disc isn't moving is it fastened tightly to the hub? If so the hub can't move if the disc isn't moving. If the rim is moving and the hub isn't there can't be any tension in the spokes. That would create a whole host of other problems so I doubt it's that.
Needs further investigation. I would say look again and see exactly what is moving and what isn't. When you get to a point that one bit is moving and what it's attached to isn't you've found the problem. Either tighten it or report back with more information.

As others have said, assuming you have done up the bolts (or centrelock) then the rotor is fixed to the wheel and one cannot physically move without the other. So if the brakes are on and the rotor is not moving then the hub cannot move either. I suppose it could give the impression of moving if the wheel skewer is not tightened and the hub is rocking in the dropouts?
