Hi
So I wanted to get my hands on a Giant Defy alu bike but none of my lbs have it in stock.
I did try a medium(54) the Scott Speedster down at my local bike shop and I felt way to stretched out. Question would be is the same thing true for the Giant Defy, what do you guys think?
Top tube seems to be the same on both bikes.
Scott Speedster size 54(Medium) has top tube of 54.5cm and Giant Defy size 50(Medium) has the same (54.5cm)
Cheers
(I am 174cm (5'8 1/2) with inseam 79cm (31') btw)

I think you have your sizing wrong, a Medium Defy has an E.T.T. of 54.5cm and a 100mm long stem, plus compact 75/120mm Reach/Drop handlebars.
You could be fine on a Small or Medium, you would go for the Med. to get a higher front end, however it depends on your reach.
