Hi,
I'm currently resorting a 1992 British Eagle touring bike and I need to replace the front middle chainring. The chain rings are Shimano Biopace which means they are slightly oval.
It is a 5 bolt crank arm with 110bcd.
What sort of chainring am I able to replace this with?
Thanks

You can replace it with any other 5-bolt 110bcd (ie compact) chainring.0

That sounds ideal, could you please post a link to a suitable option

There's loads Tom - I'd just go for a TA or a Stronglight ring from somewhere like Spa Cycles, there's loads similar on ebay as well..0

Think I bought mine from Ribble and CRC.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)
Marin Palisades Trail 91 and 06
Scott CR1 SL 12
Cannondale Synapse Adventure 15 & 16 Di2

That Stronglight chain ring from Ribble is for a compact double chainset and doesn't have any ramps or pick up pins. This means that the shift from little ring to middle will not be as good as a ring specifically designed as a middle ring. Have a look at the following Stronglight ring available from Spa Cycles. It does have pick up pins and ramps to aid shifting.

I am sure i have a 38T biopace chain ring in good order in my stash. a round ring with 110 bcd will work fine though.http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0
