Newbie bike

I am a complete newbie to road biking (I have only ever had mountain bikes) and am looking to start Road biking. I have looked online at bikes and have found that they are all either really expensive or have major flaws. Can you recommend some of the best bikes for around £400?

    Bikerradar charge a fee of £50 for advice to newbies, so your now looking at about £350.

    For that Money you would be better off looking at second hand with the potential to upgrade in the future.

    There have been a few people on here asking a similar question and search will find some useful info and recomendations. From memory there were a few people with good opinions of BTwin models around that price point.
