Headset Dust Cover Gap
Just fitted new internal headset to new frame. I pushed in the bearings into the frame and pushed the steerer tube through the top tube/bearings. The gap between the top of the fork crown and the bottom of the top tube looks a perfect fit. However, when I slid the top race down the top of the steerer tube followed by the dust cover the gap between the bottom of the dust cover and the top of the top tube looks a little too big - you can see the silver of the bearing. On my other bike (also of an internal headset design) there is hardly any gap between the bottom of the dust cup and the frame. It is as though either the thickness of the top bearing is too large, the top of the top tube is slightly low or the dust cap is too small. What sort of gap is 'too big' - or is this a silly question?
