Drivetrain issues

Hi all,

I have a Whyte Whitechapel 2016 which I cycle to/from work everyday. It is 5 months old and has done about 900km. My commute is about 7 miles and not too hilly.

Chain : KMC CN-HG53, 9 Speed
Chainset: Lasco 42T, with Alloy Chain Guard
Freewheel: Shimano HG-200-9, 11-34 9 Speed
Rear Derailleur: Shimano Acera RD-M3000, 9 Speed

Anybody have experience of issues with the chain caused by the bend put in it? My one only seems to line up well with gear 3, so is bending across 6 gears in 9

Thanks

It sounds like a lot of nonsense to me.

Surely if the chain skips, then your gears need to be re-indexed. It's not unusual in single chainring drivetrains. You might have a chain which is too long, so when you go in the small sprockets there is very little tension. Your derailleur might need to be adjusted on the high spring load setting. It might even be that your chain is damaged, but 8-9 speed makes no difference and for sure you don't need to go to 8 speed
