Electric drill drama

I was using my corded power drill to make holes in the screeded garage floor - 2* 8mm holes. The drill won't come out. I can open the chuck jaws but it is stuck. My (12 year old) son tells me the drill is welded to the base of the chuck and I should drill some more to melt the weld and pull the drill out!

Are there any other suggestions - I can't get the chuck off as it needs a sort of cone spanner larger than the ones I use for the bike.
...take your pickelf on your holibobs.... :D

Aha - thanks for the advice. This is exactly the situation - the drill (6 mm) was friction welded to a hole down the centre of the chuck - and also I was not doing what you suggested in terms of drilling blind. Your Bush Fix (what happened to Ghetto Fix) was a better one than mine which was inspired by a visit to the dentist and involved loosening it with drifts then pulling it out! Was worried I'd have to fork out for a new drill!
