I am looking to buy a new mountain bike which will be capable of handling a mixture of trail and road riding. I have a budget of up to £750 and have seen two bikes of interest but I don't know which one to choose. Those are the scott 770 and the cube attention. Does anybody have any advice of which is the best bike.

for me the cube looks slightly better specced... and £100 under budget allowing you to tweak a few items in budget

It does look better with shimano xt on the rear set and rock shox forks, albeit the lower end. I did like the scott bike but it's doesn't seem to make any sense to buy it in comparison with the cube bike.

The Attention is not a bad xc bike - but the fork is a heavy basic unit. The fork on the Scott is similar, but a bit stouter and is not the worth the money.

For even less, take a look at this:

Or if you like Cube's, have a look at this:

Thank you for the advice the link for the cube bike looks a really good buy. Before I saw that I had started to settle on a cube attention sl with rock shox recon forks for 699. I had really wanted to buy a scott bike but they now seem over priced for what you get under 1000 pounds in comparison to other bikes on that price range.
