Hi guys, i recently bought myself a rather nice Specialized Tarmac and immediately proceeded to upgrade it to 11 speed from its old 9 speed set up. The one thing remaining is the chainset. Being BB30 I want to fit Shimano 5800 but apparently is not compatible. I dont want to break the bank for an uber expensive chainset, so are there any recommendations?

I fitted one of these to Mrs SG's bike.

Prinary reason was some of the other adapters can't cope with and raised sections, e.g. cable guides, within the BB shell.0 -

Probably too late here but I have had the Wheels Manufacturing adapters fitted to my Tarmac for a while now and they have been superb. http://www.wiggle.co.uk/wheels-manufact ... 5360375067
Just apply a little grease to all the contact surfaces and you are good to go.

Rotor do a BB30 - HT2 unit which is decent and works wellFacts are meaningless, you can use facts to prove anything that's remotely true! - Homer0

I tried a press in sleeve first, didn't end well
That kink is what happens when you keep turning the press

Hi guys, the part from SJS cycles arrived yesterday. I've removed the crank arms and the part doesn't seem to fit. I am pretty new to this BB30 malarkey. Should this new part just slot straight in, or am I missing something here?0 -

You'll need to remove the existing bearings and the circlips. This should then fit into the shell. To get the bearings out you'll need some kind of removal tool to do it. If you don't have any circlip pliers then you might get the circlips out using a set of long nose pliers.
If you don't have the tools to remove the bearings either send the adapter you bought back and buy the wheels manufacturing push in adapters or take the bike to your LBS and ask them to do it for you.

Thanks for this Paul. I've spoken to a local cycle mechanic who's doing the dirty deed for us.0
