Nice but it needs a gold groupset. They were popular in the 80s.0

Not sure I understand to be honest. A fairly poor standard bike covered in cigarette advertising? The other classic bikes look better, but why the F1 link? It's a bike like painting a golf club to look like a snooker cue.0

Blimey, you're a happy chap aren't you!
I do it because I love F1 and building bikes, so I get to combine the two. Generally most people like what I do.
And its not poor standard at all, unless you are a professional racer?
My mum always said if you can't say something nice then don't say anything at all..... :roll:0 -

If I do a classic bike in JPS colours I will probably do that!0 -
These are just regular bikes, but with extra stickers on, right? Sorry, I'm kinda with antsmithmk on this - I don't really get it either...0

I like it, fun idea - and it's not like it hasn't been done before, what with the Spesh/McLaren stuff. Could use some nicer tyres, though.0

Can't wait for the next project - not because of the bike.... I just wondered what Shed accessory would be the bike stand.
Cuprinol is definitely my favourite0 -
Get yourself a titanium nitrite coated chain to complete the back and gold look.0

Surely whatever you think of Capn Vimes bikes, you'd have to agree that they are more fun than dreary stealth matt black or predictable black, red and white?!
BTW Capn V - the Lotus does need a polished crankset. Chunky would never have allowed such a component to be drab grey! And if you can find a red, quilted saddle, that would be the finishing touch!Faster than a tent.......0 -
Im inspired! I'm going to put a benson and hedges sticker on my Ribble winter bike now.Insta: ATEnduranceCoaching

'mfraid I am with you on this... but if he enjoys his hobby... better than putting cigarette stickers on a Vauxhall Corsa and racing it around the neighborhood, I suppose... :roll:left the forum March 20230 -

C'mon. If we weren't allowed to apply the colour schemes of one hobby to another then Colnagos wouldn't have paintjobs that all look like the inside of tarts boudoirs!Faster than a tent.......0 -
These are nice looking bicycles into which someone has put a little effort and thought.
I quite like the idea, but the great thing here is not the look; it is the fact that someone has put together a thing they enjoy.
Most of my bicycles and those of my family have been goofed about with, sprayed, had non-matching parts fitted. It is all harmless and fun and there is no bicycle better than the one you imagined and then assembled.
As a relic of the stone age, I do not take pictures of bicycles. But if the OP wants to share his, that seems a perfectly reasonable thing to do and this is the forum in which to do it.
Thumbs up from me.0 -
Glad it's got some positive responses as well now! I know the finish is kinda love it, hate it, don't understand it; but I have built or restored over 30 bikes in the last five years now and only four have the Motorsport theme! I have got my wife, sister, two brothers-in-law and two nephews riding bikes I have built for them.
I've learnt a lot, can fix just about anything now and have a cheaper, safer and healthier hobby than when I used to muck about with motorbikes instead of cycles.
I cannot see that I will ever buy a complete bike, unless it is just to strip it for parts.0
