Just fitted a tubular....

..and noticed that there seems to be some of the cotton backing showing evenly around the perimeter on both sides.

I'm wondering if I've not spotted it before and the glued cotton backing has just gone black over time.

It's a Vittoria tubular in a C35 Dura Ace wheel.

    Thanks for that, thought it might be, it just looks a bit odd with the backing being light in colour. I'm hoping that when the tyre is properly inflated then it might not be as obvious.

    That's standard for Vittoria and a few others. It's a good way of checking if your tub is centred. Forget asthetics and just enjoy the ride.
