The new last 10km rule

I can't see how this is going to be implemented. If you are tired and don't want to contest the sprint why do you have to finish with a team mate? Would it not be better to get your time at the 10km point and then sign off at the finish area? I think Cookson is focussing on the wrong rules myself

    True, but I guess the thinking is that it will give riders with less than perfect bike handling the option to ride in with riders with better bike handling. For example Carlos Betancur can piggy back on to Nairo Quintana and learn how he handles the last 10km of a mountain stage. Everybody wins!
