always stoverij - you can even make it the day before and it tastes better the day after.

Not sure you should ever respond to a culinary question with "always stoverij" but anyway......

...but as with all local things there are a million ways of achieving the same thing. The only thing I'd add to that is that after you put the beer in, bring it to a good boil to let the alcohol boil off and if you re oven is not the best, check that it is hot enough so that it is actually cooking (albeit very slowly). Some people say keep it on the stove on a very low heat which I find works better. My oven is rubbish though.

DG also makes a good stoverij (he claims ;) )

I was there too, it was grim. But still one of the best days ever :)

I remember the collective groan that we up and down the coach was we hit the sheets of rain on our way to Oudenaarde from Ghent. Was properly grim and was block headwind on the run in to the finish from the Paterberg.

The next day I was sunbathing on the finish straight in shorts and t-shirt!!!!

Yep, got sunburnt sitting on top of Oude Kwaremont watching the pros. Weird weekend of weather!

2020 Merida Reacto Disc Ltd - black on black
    2015 CAAD8 105 - very green - stripped to turbo bike

    Cannondale Synapse - broken
    Cube Streamer - stolen

That's how it should be though! Feel what it's like to be in the breakaway with empty legs and the wolves chasing you! ;)

This is how nice it was on the Eikenberg - https://vimeo.com/124243689

(That's Sky's Scott Mitchell in front of me who was also making his way around the course "off course" as it were...)

    Natch.

I told the missus from way back an January that I wasn't going out, no one was coming round, and I wasn't doing any DIY on Ronde day, nor PR day.

Got the Lion of Flanders flag out, and will be draping it out the bedroom window late on Saturday night. The locals won't know what the hell it is though.

Just make sure the lion has red claws....

Quite, when I brought it, the bloke tried to palm me off with the all black one. But I was wise to his game, and had done the research......

    Red claws all the way!

Rowe each way at 50-1 might be worth a go but I've never done any online betting!

Possible if he gets in the right move (MSR showed that Sky like a 'man in every move' strategy), but I think Roubaix is more his race

I like it, but I can't get a decent bet on with Paddy Power these days (bet limits). I need a new bookie

Edit: I just went on to Paddy Power to prove my point and placed a bet on Westra at £5 each way at 66/1. I expected it to tell me I could only bet 0.78p as it did for me recently on Gaviria at G-W.

But no, it didn't. It accepted. Go Lieuwe!

Talking of which, the Belgian Beer thread is being a bit tardy: there's usually at least 2 pages of obscure beer anorak one-upmanship by now on the Saturday before Flanders...
