Spokes - double vs triple butted

Just had a spoke break on my front crosslight disc wheel. As standard it's fitted with triple butted spokes but can I stick a double butted one on instead?

Also, better to make a hole in the rim tape or unstick it? And finally, since the wheel is still completely true, am I right in thinking replacing is just a case of installing and just bringing it up to tension? Then cover the hole with a bit of tape?

    Yes and yes as for the hole, do what you think it's best. If it's sticky tape and you don't go tubeless, then drill a hole and cover it with some more tape, why not...

    Excellent. Thanks ugo! Think I'm just going to make a hole and cover it with a self adhesive tube patch.
