MTB equipment to use on an island

I just bought a specialized hard rock disc 29. I live on a island that is 11 miles long and the highest point is 11 above sea level. I went MTB for the suspension because I have horrible back problems which as lead to a plethora of other issues. I just picked the nick up to day. I did have a different seat installed then the small rock it came with. And wow is the 29 faster then a 26. What I need now is a mount for a iphone 6 in a otter box defender case. I have another phone mount but I have to take my phone out of the case and put it in another case for the mount. This is what I got for my beach cruiser. Know I need something different that is going to be reliable. I use the map my ride app and play music to my Bluetooth head phones while riding. I was doing 10 miles in about 50 minutes on another MTB with 26 So with this 29 pushing out to 12-15 miles is quite probable soon. Any advice on equipment or mounts. Any and all suggestions while be appreciated.

Anybody have a iPhone 6 otter box defender and if so what is the best mount. I'm really stuck on this and I don't know what I should get. Also any feed back from the map my ride app. Is it a good choice. Thanks for the advice0

Any of the GPS-based apps will be fine - Map My Ride, Strava, Cyclemeter, etc.
Can't help with the otters bike mount, sorry. If your island is only 11 miles long though do you need to be able to see the phone? You're not likely to get lost, are you? Keep your phone in your pocket or pack and just look at it whenever you stop.“Life has been unfaithful

No I will definitely not get lost. I grew up here and it so small the speed limit is 35 mph. I do like to see the phone to see my time, speed, and distance. It's a mental thing. Question about the apps. I have map my ride now. Is that accurate enough so that I don't need a separate speedometer
Any thoughts on the specialized line of bikes. I like the 29 inches. I'm completely new and well and truly ignorant on what, if anything I should do or change from factory parts. Or just leave it as is. I have no elevation to work with so I ride the beach sand for some serious resistance or just distance ride on concrete bike path. Im glad I found this site. Lots of good info looking back at past post.0 -

Map my Ride is fine. I use it sometimes and it is pretty accurate.
Out of interest, where is your island?“Life has been unfaithful

Nice, but warm in summer though? Was trying to figure which island but there looks like a whole chain of them!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
