Greater Haywards Heath bike ride

Hi all
Never done a sportive / organised ride before but I've booked myself in for the Haywards Heath bike ride on April 10th - the Highwayman route of 48 miles. Anyone ever done it before? Good ride?
Only took up cycling a couple of years ago but I really like it, and hoping to go on to do much bigger rides in the future but thought this might be a good starting point. Should I look to join a club run before the day to have a go at riding in a group?
Thanks

Only just seen this - sorry. Hope you did the ride and enjoyed it.
I did the Black (which is the longer 75-80 mile one) and I enjoyed it. I cycle locally quite a lot so most of the route was familiar to me.
If you are local (Haywards Heath/Lindfield) and are interested in some more social rides with other people then respond to this or PM me. A bunch of us based in Lindfield have got together to form a "club" - the Lindfield Warriors (was Lindfield Weekend Warriors at first ). It's pretty informal at the moment rather than competitive and with a wide range of abilities. You'd be more than welcome to join us for rides.
We meet at Hickmans Lane, Lindfield at 7.30am on a Sunday morning (the car park by the playing fields). We also have ad-hoc rides through the week - depends who's around.Never be tempted to race against a Barclays Cycle Hire bike. If you do, there are only two outcomes. Of these, by far the better is that you now have the scalp of a Boris Bike.0
