Slack AM rig

Looking at the used market for a V3 meta AM however decent ones are few and far between and fetch a fair bit more than a nukeproof mega am. Never ridden the latter so just wondering how they compare. Anyone ridden the two?

I haven't personally but one of my regular riding buddies recently moved from an AM to a V4 and found overall the V4 a much better bike to ride. Downhill he said the AM was really good and veey stable with the V4 not far behind. All other aspects he prefers the V4 although The front end can have a tendency to wonder on steep climbs. The V4 was a bit lighter as well from what I could feel.Bird Aeris : Trek Remedy 9.9 29er : Trek Procaliber 9.8 SL0

V4's are even scarcer and I can't justify the expense when it's only an addition to the stable for occasional rides. There are quite a few decent spec 2012 nukeproof am's in the 900 -1100 bracket0

Bicycle dude, not rig.
I've ridden a couple Mega AMs and owned a Mega TR. I wouldn't have another. Very crude rear suspension, can be made good by fitting a very good shock. They eat bearings as well.
The 2012 model wasn't the AM model, they had shorter suspension travel and we're heavier and less stable.
For around a grand I'd look for a late model 26" Giant Reign, Transition Covert, Intense Tracer or Specialized Enduro.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
