shimano 6800 front mech set up

Hi
Do i need the TL-FD 68 template to set up the 6800 front mech or is there an easy way cheers.

    one or two threads on here already about this. search for 6800 front mech trim or similar.

    No its not vital. The TL-FD68 template tool is only to help you determine if the cable converter pin (next to the cable clamp bolt) is ON or OFF - by whichever angle the cable comes from. There is only 2 positions - ON or OFF. i would try ON position first. Dont clamp the cable so tight when setting up,then if you feel the operation could feel better and snappier. Start over. Unhook the cable and try the off postion. You will know immediately which is better.

    Once you've decided on the cable routing I found this video that shows the set up to get all the trim positions working. It describes it for the 105 5800 but the 6800 is the same AFAIK.
