Shimano shifters

I got some good advice around my last question about going from 3x10 to 1x10 and I've got another question, possibly a daft one!

On my xcal 9 it's running shimano sl-m610 shifters front and back, and with me looking to go 1x10 will be alright keeping the same rear shifter or should I look at changing it?

What's the actual difference between the different shimano shifters barring price?

Thanks

to go from 9 -10 yes you have to change the shifter.

you also have to change the mech the cassette and the chain.

  • Sorry, meant it's a Trek X-Caliber 9. Running 3x10 at the min but will be converting it to 1x10 before spending the money and a specific 1x crankset to see how I get on.

Is it worth changing the shifter running 1x10 or will it be ok? What's the diff between the 10 spd shimano shifters, just cost and weight?

I would just keep it if it is working.

further up the versions the lighter things get. sometimes the feel changes.
