Anyone know if this can be repaired.

Just been offered a Cervelo R3 with Dura Ace 7900 for £300 quid

Best bet would be to contact one or more of the carbon frame repair companies and get their opinion.

    eg http://www.carbonbikerepair.co.uk/

    or

    http://www.carboncyclerepairs.co.uk/index.html

Some others may have first hand experience of a good repairer so they may be along with suggestions.

I had a similar fail on my Look 586. A carbon repair specialists I spoke to (one of those linked above) advised me that repair was not possible and to bin the frame. They also told me it was quite a common failure on Cervelo frames, same answer.

I fixed mine by machining a new aluminium dropout and bolting it on, but I fear yours is toast. sorry.

Have a look here for inspiration:

Buy it, bin the frame and you will have a 7900 group-set for £300 minus what you sell the other bits for.

Out of interest is it a 2011 frame?

    Some info here which looks hopeful;

    That should polish out :-)

I assume there's no chance of a warranty job?

I can recommend Carbon Cycle Repair near Burton ( as link given above). I would ring them and ask; they will be able to tell you if a safe repair is possible or not.
  • Told him the frame was scrap and got it down to £200 :-)

Has anyone tried to send one of these back to Cervelo who isn't the original owner? I'd love to stick some wheels on this and use it as a second bike.

If the frames a no go, as mentioned I will just keep the carbon bars and sell everything else for a profit.

    Cheers

Of course a repair is possible, though it would involve machining a whole new dropout and fixing to existing carbon. Plenty of bikes out there have replaceable dropouts.

Well, as you clearly demonstrate, you have the manual dexterity to skin a turd with one hand (after presumably picking it up by the clean end). So a repair such as you require is probably not beyond your own fair- albeit slightly smelly- hand.
I think you should haggle a little more though; with your obvious talents you could probably get him to throw in the family car with a generous coating of Strawberry jam on it. By the way, that annoying squeak that you can't quite put your finger on...... it's not probably not coming from your bike at all
