Is there an easy way to get the chainring bolt off my Sram rival chainring of its under the crank arm?

Its a funny two stage bolt on these. Are you trying to remove the crank arm? Is so you want an 8mm key into the centre an it will bring the outer tensioning bolt with it.

No I want to remove the chainring bolts to grease them. I know you need a 6mm hex and a 5mm hex for the bolts, however one of the bolts is hidden under the crank arm. Is there a way to get to it, or is it accessed form the other side of the ring (non crank arm side) or is there some sort of special way to take it off?

From your description I'd have thought it is a bolt threaded into a blind hole rather than a two part affair like the rest. And if so, simply accessed from the back?

From looking at the bolts from the crank arm side, the hidden bolt looks the same as the others. Ill take the whole lot off tonight and see what I can do, or if it can be accessed from the back.

Don't really see the problem, a chainring bolt behind the crankarm must be unscrewed from behind the crankarm, there is no other way....

I emailed Sram and they were seriously quick getting back to me. THe hidden bolt is accessed form the rear face of the chainring
