Cleaning Black Rims

Any ideas what to use to clean my black Archetype rims?
Although they clean up okay, there's always a slight "staining" left on the surface, almost like an embedded watermark. I've tried Muc-Off with a soft nylon brush to no avail, and wiping WD40 around them (which seemed to do the trick, but after a few days the marks reappeared as it evaporated/washed off with the rain)
Disc hubs, so the brake surface isn't a problem
Cheers

Propanol, aka propyl alcohol, aka rubbing alcohol, aka hospital alcohol. Can be purchased by the litre at Maplins. Either neat, or mix with water. Not many things that you might want to wipe off are insoluble in both. I use it neat to clean expensive camera lenses, it leaves no smear if done properly (propanerly?) so wheel rims should come out fine.Dolan Titanium ADX 2016

Blimey; apart from a quick wipe down after a wet ride, I don't bother cleaning my wet weather bike between October and April, it's pretty pointless since it's constantly filthy.
The chain does get frequently wiped down / relubed.
In the summer I'll give both bikes a wash and a partial strip down so I can give the frames and forks a good looking at, and grease anything that needs it.0
