Specialized Ground Control/tyre widths

Hi all, thinking about putting my summer tyres back on, currently running Specialized Ground Control, 2.3 front and 2.1 back, 2013 Camber riding Bedgebury, Swinley, Hadleigh Park etc
Are these any good? Would it be worth changing them? Only summer tyre I've ever used so nothing to compare them against, been using Storm Control over the winter which has suited the muddy local trails/footpaths I ride.
Also what's the deal with widths? From stock my bike has 2.3 front and 2.1 rear, any reason for this? Should I keep the same widths or go for something bigger??
Thanks
Jay

Ground Control are very good tyres. Not too draggy but good grip.
If you have used them before without any problems why waste money buying more tyres? Use them until they wear out and then look at alternatives.“Life has been unfaithful
