If you had £400-£500 to spend on new wheels what would you buy.
Needing sturdy but light weight rims

For factory built wheels my stock answer is to shop around and try to get hold of Shimano Dura-ace c24s or Campagnolo Shamal Ultra /Fulcrum Racing Zero (these come from the same factory). If you need something more rugged, I'd suggest something with more spokes, perhaps hand builts with Archetype rims and hubs to suit your budget - I have a set with (I think) 28/32 spokes front/rear and Chris King hubs which have been rock solid. Having said that, I've never had a DA or Fulcrum Zero snap a spoke or go out of true on me.

  • Mavic Ksyrium Elite.
Speaking from experience. Available around £400 mark includes decent tyres as standard.
I'm on my 2nd set having sold previous with the bike.
Different hub colours available too so you can match your bike. Done thousands of miles on these in the last four years at sixteenish stone riding all year round and not being arsed with maintenance.
    My opinion only, but valid?
