Am I A Maverick?

Regularly I ride my bike wearing socks with RUNNING embroidered on them. I have also been known to, on occasion, wear the sock marked 'L' on my right foot and the sock marked 'R' on my left foot. Earlier this week I wore odd socks.

Are there any other like minded cyclists out there, or am I a lone wolf - a wild and crazy maverick who cannot be tamed.

Everyone knows that wearing the L sock on the right, and vice versa, leads to you riding in circles :D

Why buy asymmetrical socks and then put them on the wrong foot?

Why have you got socks with RUNNING written on them?
I would personally not wear them for running or cycling. They would only be worn under a pair of jeans!

Not sure of the exact meaning of a maverick, but a lot of people just want to be different for difference sake.
I call these people dicks, not mavericks

Er yes, why would you want to be different for no other reason than being different?
You should just be yourself and do things because you want to shouldn't you?

I have always done what I wanted to do, mainly because I want to.

Sometimes that means I will do and have what loads of other people do and have, and sometimes that I will be different and have unique things.

Sure the later sometimes feels good for certain reasons, but its a by product of a decision made for pure reasons.
People who try to be different/cool just for the sake of it just look shallow and sad most of the time IMO.

To start a thread about it and wait for replies is Uber sad (I did wonder if the socks with L/R on them are actually even asymmetric, and not just a learning aid).

For the record and to answer the OP in a less rude way, with the exception of commuting I only wear sport specific running and cycling socks, the asymmetric ones are always on the correct foot, they are never odd pairs or turned inside out.

This is partly OCD, partly that I put the socks in pairs when storing, and partly that I just like nice socks generally.

Is it acceptable to start wearing the left sock on the right foot and vice versa when your big toes have worn holes in them?

Asymmetrical socks marked L and R are just a recipe for disaster. 2 matched socks go into the laundry basket. 1 comes out of the machine. Does anyone know where socks go? Now, if they are unmarked and you start with a few pairs of the same type you can always match one half with another half. Once you start marking them you are just going to end up with a bunch of socks all marked L or R. Your only option then is to give them away to the one-legged persons charity. I think the p*fairy has a relative - the sock fairy.

Back in the day you could get refused a start in my local road race league if the organiser thought your socks were offensive.

    No, don't be daft.

When you get up at 0630 for your regular Saturday ride and the missus wont let you put the light on odd socks are the norm, getting the pad on the inside of the bibs is a bonus.
