After a fruitless search I settled on the Vision Team 30's but poor hub bearings saw them returned.
What next?
Are the Vittoria Session wheels any good for £105 or should I find a bit more behind the sofa for some Fulcrum 5 LG's?
Would quite like something with a more Aero profile (just for looks) but quattro's are now £185.
feel free to chip in or scoff at your leisure...

Some Fulcrum LG 5.5's in the classifieds if you're interested

I gather these are OEM wheels supplied to the likes of Cervelo for their off the shelf bikes. May differ slightly from the Fulcrum 5's but not much I reckon. Worth making an offer0 -

For the budget, you probably wouldn't find anything better than the 5LGs but have a look at some of the German sites and see how much they are going for with them (but don't forget to factor in any extra shipping). I have got the 5LGs on my Synapse and Mavic Aksiums (which are a bit cheaper) on my Allez and I think the former are a bit better in as much as they seem better in corners and when braking but that might just be because I want them to be!!Cannondale Synapse Carbon Ultegra
Kinesis Racelight 4S
Specialized Allez Elite (Frame/Forks for sale)
Specialized Crosstrail Comp Disk (For sale)0 -
For robustness Campag Khamsin CX seem really good. Can be had ~£100ish. Had mine for 18 months and done thousands of miles, including plenty off road and I haven't done a drop of maintenance on them.0

Theyve added more to that since I ordered mine, turned up today tensions seem good on most of the spokes couple needed a tweek, was bang true though had a little roll around on them seem nice an a good half kilo lighter than my old set.0 -

The 5.5 is closer to the 7 than the 5.
OP, for your budget I would look at some shimano RS31 or Mavic Aksiums.0 -
Have to say I'm quite impressed by my Aksium on the Evo. They are Aksium S so 1735g rather than the older heavier Mavic One. They call them Mavic Elite now, I believe. For entry level they feel great. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Had a look at aksium but there are so many versions it gets to confusing. S, elite, one, etc. are the new ones wider or not? Which ones are the new ones? Shimano are quite narrow and heavy.
How about these alex cx28 rims on chosen hubs for £160 are the alex rims much cop?

Plus an extra 10% off at the moment.
Yes tempting but they list as the narrow rim. I might give them a bell in the morning. Are the tyres as bad as reported?0 -

No. At least the Aksions aren't. I prefer the Schwalbe I swapped onto my Evo. Better all round. But not night and day better. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Still tempted by bling...

These 30mm deep rims don't look bad at £149, resonable weight too. The stickers look like they'll peel off.

Bit narrow though.

ok,
narrowed down to Fulcrum racing fives or quattros. Both have the wider rim, the quattros are deeper at 35mm but only 16 spokes up front. The fives have only 20 spokes on the back now but are marginally lighter.
I need them for all year use including communting on my R872.
Really like the look of the Quattros but the fives are more practical, arrggghhh! :?0 -
Bought the fulcrum fives rather than the quattro's, couldn't ignore the practicality of an extra two spokes out front and the shallower rim for those gale force winds on the winter commute.
£139 well spent I hope.0
