Not fully cycling related but I'm flying into Geneva on 12th of July. I have 5 nights in Morzine for a cycling trip. Then the wife is flying over to meet me on the 17th July and we have 10 nights. Going to drive around rather than train or bus. Don't know much about the area but would like some help with an itinerary and hotel suggestions.

What about something like:
Evian 4 nights
Chamoinx 3 nights
Annecy - 3 nights
Fly out of Geneva

The Tour De France is on and close to where we will be so I will hopefully get to see a bit of it as well.

As I said I know nothing about the area and no doubt there are nicer places. We are looking a bit of a mixture of sight seeing, sunbathing, few nice walks. I will have done my cycling before I start the touristy stuff so I will be happy enough not to want to go cycling, plus the wife would kill me.
Cheers

  • I have stayed in Les Gets loads of time in the summer and it is great, it's the town up the road from Morzine. I prefer it to Morzine, slightly smaller.

We have been to Evian for the day and thought it a complete waste of time to be honest. Wasnt a great day but wouldnt think you could spin 3/4 days out of it. There are loads of non cycling stuff to do around Morzine/Les Gets that are not cycling related. e.g. Lake Montriond (you pass it on the Joux Verte climb is a fantastic spot for lazing about in the Lake), Les Gets also has a swimming lake, there are great walks in Les Gets). Samoens is also nearby(the other side of the Joux Plan from Morzine)

Chamonix and Annecy are both great but busy. We have done day trips to Chamonix from Les Gets before. Annecy is an easy day trip as well.
