New Cables - Which ones?

I do not understand why Shimano need to market several cable sets to do the same job, galvanised cables, stainless cables and coated stainless cables at least. As i see it the cheapest should be fit for purpose and the rest not needed.
The coated cables are in MHO are a cr*p idea. The coating soon comes off and are then fit for the bin along with the outers.
Which cables are in the big box that MF recommends ?0 -
Some cables that don't fray and snap in their own shifters would be a start.[Castle Donington Ladies FC - going up in '22]0

Crazy how just in the Shimano range at Merlin, a single Shimano gear cable inner ranges from £2.50 to £14.95, while a set (of inners and outers) is £8.95 to £44.95!================

I buy the "lifeline" kits from Wiggle.
Decent enough quality and dirt cheap
Not had any issues with cable fraying, breaking or gumming up.0 -
yup - used them a few times now, as good as anything out there and dirt cheap.dannbodge said:I buy the "lifeline" kits from Wiggle.
