New Cables - Which ones?

    I do not understand why Shimano need to market several cable sets to do the same job, galvanised cables,stainless cables and coated stainless cables at least. As i see it the cheapest should be fit for purpose and the rest not needed.
    The coated cables are in MHO are a cr*p idea. The coating soon comes off and are then fit for the bin along with the outers.
    Which cables are in the big box that MF recommends ?

    Some cables that don't fray and snap in their own shifters would be a start.

  • Crazy how just in the Shimano range at Merlin, a single Shimano gear cable inner ranges from £2.50 to £14.95, while a set (of inners and outers) is £8.95 to £44.95! :#

    I buy the "lifeline" kits from Wiggle.
    Decent enough quality and dirt cheap

    Not had any issues with cable fraying, breaking or gumming up.

    yup - used them a few times now, as good as anything out there and dirt cheap.
    .
    The camera down the willy isn't anything like as bad as it sounds.
