Carbon Washer for Front Mech
Bit of a weird one, bear with me.
Scott Addicts have a carbon front mech braze on. Scott advise and bikes were originally built with a carbon washer between the bolt and the front of the mount. The idea is they provide more grip than a metal spacer/washer to stop the front mech moving.
You can see one here:- http://cdn.velonews.competitor.com/file ... 08/122.jpg
I have an Addict with SRAM red and another with Shimano. The clunky change of SRAM means that the front mech subtly moves around on the mount making the shift unreliable.
These are even more rare than hen's teeth.
Long shot: anyone got one or two they wish to part with?
Could it be possible to get someone to fashion one out of carbon?
Any other ideas?

Do it up tighter?
Use an aluminium one but roughen up the contact surface with sandpaper?
Use friction paste beteen the washer and the mount?
Use loctite beteen the washer and the mount?0 -
the fd needs to fit into the rounded recess of the mount, that's what's supposed to hold it aligned, the bolt should not matter that much
seems more likely the problem is that the cf mount is the wrong profile to stop the fd squirming under load, and/or is flexing and needs reinforcement from the extra cf support that scott have designed
a metal part with the same size/profile as the cf one would provide the extra support just as well, you may struggle to find one that matches off the shelf, but making one out of aluminium block should be straightforward
you could make one out of cf, though getting the necessary density of cf in the resin 'manually' may be trickymy bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -
Have you tried Westbrook Cycles? If not on their website drop them an email as they may be able to order one from the distributor.0
