As I'm not your typical Englishman, I'd like to bring you some insight into what we have here in Slovenia and it's vicinity. I wrote an article for an online hostelling magazine about the Parenzana Cycling trail which runs from Trieste in eastern Italy, down by the Adriatic coast through Slovenia, finishing in Croatia.

You can expect typical mediterranean architecture, warm weather and fresh seafood never far away, and diverse accomodation options aplenty, since this is an attractive tourist destination in summer. The route itself is quite special as well, as it runs on what was once a narrow-gauge railway connecting the coastal town. Many train tunnels have been dug through the hills and can now be ridden through, an added bonus to the already rich surroundings.

If you're considering where to go cycling this year, why not have a look at Parenzana - I'm sure you'll like what you see.
