Hi

I am an avid cyclist however for the last few years I have into road cycling so I am a bit behind with MTB tech. Having recently moved to a village that has a 600 Acre woodland on my doorstep I am keen to get back into XC again so I have been hunting for a decent XC / Singletrack bike.

I have decided to go 2nd hand as bang for buck is so much better, With that in mind I have discovered a bike via an online auction and it has the following spec, Does it sound like a good deal for £700 (sorry no pictures) ?

Scott Spark RC Carbon Frame with Nude Shock - I think its a 2010 model (black and yellow) few cosmetic scratches
Front Fork - Rock Shox Reba XX World Cup (requires servicing but cosmetically mint)
Gruppo - SRAM XO shifter 9spd / X7 Rear Mech / GXP BB with 36t e-Thirteen chainring as 1 x 9 setup
Brakes - Tektro Auriga 180/160 Hydro brakes (new fluid and new pads)
Bars - Scott alu flat bars
Stem - Scott 100mm
Saddle - Specialised Romin SL
Wheels - American Classic hubs on ZTR Crest rims
Tyres - Schwalbe Rocket Ron's

The guy has clearly looked after it with receipts for everything and a recent service from his LBS and despite the slight wear and tear it looks in good condition. I have always been wary about buying carbon 2nd hand but I have also been led to believe that as long as there are no cracks all is good - I presume some slight paint chips and cable rub marks are ok ?

Thoughts ? I really want to pull the trigger but could do with some helpful advice ?

Thanks

It's reasonable - the wheels fork and frame are nearly worth that alone if sold seperate (and in A1 condition), but the rest of the spec is not much to shout about, poor brakes, basic OE parts.

Seconded, reasonable value but let down by some obvious parts raiding, brakes and rear mech have clearly gone into the next bike!
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

Ok thanks for the advice - If the frame and forks are considered good then I will pull the trigger, My thoughts being that I can upgrade further down the line. I have seen a deal for some Shimano Deore discs which by all accounts are fairly decent.

    Cheers

Deore very good for about £70 - also Clarks M2 for around £35.
